Design Solution

  • Carbon fiber frame with 3D-printed accessory mounts for 5" props
  • 4s architecture with 2207, ~2400kv brushless motors
  • Printed camera mount to isolate the GoPro from frame vibration

Project Summary

I've always been big into RC, and when I saw FPV drones on YouTube I had to try it. Between 8th and 9th grade I spent my summer researching and buying components to build my first drone. Ever since, I've been addicted to the feeling of piloting a drone like a fighter jet through the air. Building an FPV drone means assembling the components, soldering all the wires, and configuring the flight controller to work with your setup. A big priority for me was filming my progression as I learned to fly. My freshman year of high school I started learning CAD and 3D printing, and began designing custom TPU GoPro mounts to capture my flights. Getting the camera mount right was critical, since any vibration that reaches the GoPro shows up directly in the flight footage. I've kept flying and refining my builds ever since.
